Should you get the Pentax HD DA 55-300 PLM or hold off and empty your RRSP or 401 K for the Pentax D FA 150-450 AW? Well that's not as simple a question as you think it is to answer. They both have advantages and disadvantages. The 55-300 has a standard to super telephoto focal range which allows you to shoot in tighter locations. It also has a close minimum focus distance. It's AF is fast and silent. It also allows for continuous AF in video on the K-70, KP and K-3 Mark III. The 150-450 has a longer super telephoto maximum (450 mm vs 300 mm), the image quality is so sharp that you can crop practically as far as you want into an image without destroying it. It has AF buttons on the lens itself (faster activation of AF), focus limiter, 2 types of quick shift focus override. But, it's a heavy lens. So, as you can tell, each lens excels at different things, so the better lens in this case would be the lens that better suits your needs regarding what you're shooting. Just to see how it would go. Well, video shooting is more intricate than stills shooting. So much more planning involved (which is what I REALLY need to figure out lol). The footage itself is pretty good though, Auto focus wasn't the best, BUT, it's not terrible either. I'll definitely be doing more video shooting with my PENTAX cameras.
